Reviewer: A reader from St. Petersburg, FL October 15, 1999 My
five year old has, in one week, gone from frustration at being unable to draw
Pokemon characters to drawing recognizable figures. A great investment, imo, and
a fabulous way for her to learn basic artistic principles. The only caveat is
that there is a general lack of "easy" figures; however, the age-old
"start with circles" technique is relatively easy for children of any
age to follow. |

Draw 3-D : A Step by Step Guide
to Perspective Drawing by D. C. Dubosque List Price: $8.95 Our Price: $7.16 Provides instructions for making perspective drawings. Reviewer: A reader from Indiana September 23, 1999 I bought three beginning drawing books for my 9 year old, and this one was his favorite (one on how to draw cartoons was a close second). The first exercise, which is to spell out your name using 3-D letters, caught his interest right away, and he's been back to the book several times on his own initiative. Purchase This Item |
by Gail Gibbons (Illustrator) Price: $6.25 Editorial Reviews From Booklist Ages 4^-8. Simplicity and clarity are the hallmarks of Gibbons' latest offering. Illustrations with clean lines and bright colors set against textured handmade papers show the tools and supplies of drawing and painting, the primary and secondary colors, and junior van Goghs in the act of artistic expression. The organization is logical, proceeding from the familiar to the less so (i.e., "paper" before "palette"), and the straightforward text combines boldface headings, captions, and succinct descriptions. The topic is a natural for most kids, and the treatment is solid. Julie Corsaro -- |
